Fulfilling Christ's call to love God, live in community, and serve our neighbor

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Wrapping recipients in prayer and care, no expertise required

Prayer_shawls-400.jpgTwice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesday afternoons from 2:00-4:00, a group of ladies meets in the Church Parlor to knit and crochet prayer shawls. The shawls are made from various patterns and of many different colors. We are not all experts, but have learned to make shawls, lap robes, or baby blankets. These handmade products are given to anyone needing special support because of the challenge of illness, bereavement, or even encouragement because of a significant milestone. Blankets are given to newborn babies in the congregation. As we work, we share prayerful thoughts about those who may need our gift. The shawls provide warmth and comfort and wrap the recipients in our prayer and care.

We encourage anyone to join us. We have a wonderful time of fellowship. You do not need to be an expert knitter. We can teach you and even supply needles and yarn from our storage closet to begin. Contact Carol Southerland (336-768-0896) or Delores Sanders (336-659-1582) for more information.
