Home Church's refugee-welcoming event on Saturday April 22 was an enjoyable time of building relationships with some of our community's newest residents. About 75 refugees, from infants to adults, were hosted by about 50 Home Church members. Our guests as well as members brought potluck dishes and desserts to share. Although language presented challenges, all of the adults enjoyed the fellowship, while many of the children and youth played outside. One group opted for a visit to the Sanctuary to hear about the history of Home Church and the Salem community. Our visitors' countries of origin included Syria, Congo, Somalia and Cuba.
