July Focus – Family

 

Family – What does your family look like? There are many different types of families – all different sizes and structures and found in many places besides the home. As a member of Home Moravian Church, you are a part of our church family. Campers and counselors at Laurel Ridge are part of the camp family. A   group of missionaries working together can become a family – or a group of friends.  A family is a group who supports one another and loves one another – a family is a group united by ties. 

 

Church Family Life has identified the following ways you can support families, in their homes, in our community and around the world, during the month of July.  Please feel free to take part in as many of these activities as you feel called.

You can be the living hands of Christ through prayer, service and generosity – consider the following:

 

Pray

Pray for –

  • Peace within our families
  • Families with loved ones far away
  • Families experiencing poverty and homelessness
  • Families experiencing grief
  • Families impacted by health concerns
  • Families impacted by the war in Ukraine
  • Families impacted by abuse in the home
  • Families impacted by addiction
  • Organizations that support families
  • Families on missions world-wide
  • Our Home Church family
  • Our Moravian families around the world

 

Serve

 Serve in places helping support families -

  • Habitat for Humanity – help build, work in the ReStore facility, provide meals - secure.habitat.org
  • Reading Warriors - teach a child to read - projectimpact.ws
  • Ronald McDonald House – provide meals, assist guests, or do household chores – rmhcpt.org
  • Sunnyside – donate food and clothing to help local families – sunnysideministry.org
  • Serve a meal at The Dwelling – feed hungry families – thedwellingws.org
  • Big Brothers/Big Sisters – mentor a young member of our community – bbbsnc.org

 

Give

Support organizations who nurture families -

  • Imprints Cares - an early childhood education nonprofit focused upon helping break the cycle of poverty, positive parenting, and preparing children for academic success – imprintscares.org

  • SECU Family House – provides affordable family-focused accommodations for families of adult patients – familyhousews.org
  • The Salvation Army – offers the only emergency shelter for homeless families in Forsyth County – salvationarmycarolinas.org
  • Sunnyside Ministries – help to fund their assistance programs – sunnysideministry.org
  • Laurel Ridge Camp –– help preserve our beloved Moravian camp by donating to the Building CommUNITY Capital Campaign – laurelridge.org

 

 

 

A note on giving:  Please note on your gift to any of these organizations, or to an organization that you feel fits the focus, that you are giving in honor of Home Moravian Church’s 250th Anniversary.

 

During our year-long commemoration of 250 years as a congregation serving our Lord, we also seek to move toward our vision of “A Church Engaged, A Community Healed, A World Transformed.”
