Bridges to Engagement
The Bridges to Engagement program facilitates matching volunteers with opportunities to serve. Bridges is an online service that matches volunteers (as identified through a survey of personal preferences) to service opportunities (in the form of job descriptions). The Bridges to Engagement Team gathered about 70 job descriptions of opportunities available to this congregation, which includes Christian Formation, Church Family Life, Communications, Mission and Evangelism, Music and Worship, Stewardship, Church Office Help and Candle Tea.
Bridges to Engagement is available to the congregation as an online tool. Who should participate? Men and women, young and old, members and potential members. How does one participate? Complete the online survey of 27 questions about your preferences for service. (For example, How rewarding is it for you to serve out in the community?) An email response provides matches for your preferences with 10 opportunities to serve as a volunteer. Does this mean that I signed up for something? No, Bridges is NOT a sign-up tool, rather a way to let you know what volunteer opportunities at Home Moravian match your preferences.
How will the survey, job descriptions and matching process be used in our church?
- The survey will be available by a link or QR code on the website. Members and potential members can take the survey (more than once to fine tune, if desired).
- In response to the survey, each survey taker will be given 10 job descriptions via an email response to explore specific opportunities.
- For those folk who like to browse, job descriptions are available on the Bridges to Engagement tab on the HMC website home page.
- For leaders of ministries and activities, who are looking for volunteers, they will be able to find individuals who match specific skills or passions described in the job descriptions from the completed surveys.
- Youth will be able to find opportunities that match their skills and preferences also.

Imagine how you might grow by pairing your passions with your daily practice of faith. Imagine the new friends you might make by showing up for just the right job, at just the right time. Imagine the ways you can make a difference in the life of our church. Imagine what God might do through you and in you. When you take the Bridges to Engagement Survey, your skills and interests will be matched with the multitude of ways the church is at work, here and now. Imagine that.
