There is much we can learn from the Black ecclesial tradition about the interpretation and lived experience of Scripture. You’re invited for a Lenten study of Esau McCaulley’s award-winning book, Reading While Black: African American Biblical Interpretation as an Exercise in Hope.
McCaulley is an ordained priest in the Anglican tradition, an associate professor of New Testament at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, and theologian in residence at Progressive Baptist Church, an historically black congregation in Chicago.
Join us Feb. 19-April 2 on Sunday mornings following worship.
Class discussion will be facilitated by Dave & Betsy Bombick and Andrew Heil. Study of chapter one begins on Feb. 19. We will review one chapter each week, concluding with the book’s final chapter on Palm Sunday, April 2. Email Betsy for more information.
