Fulfilling Christ's call to love God, live in community, and serve our neighbor

Ready to engage?

New community initiative

  • Do you have hopes and dreams for our congregation and for Forsyth County?
  • Are you concerned about local issues such as affordable housing, poverty, education?
  • Would you like to share your thoughts with another Home Church member?

If so, the Home Church Community Engagement Team would love to talk with you!

Home Church has been invited to join with local faith communities and nonprofit organizations to deepen relationships and address community needs. This effort comes through a local working group currently called the "Forsyth Sponsoring Committee” (FSC). The FSC is working to develop a broad-based organization to build relationships and collectively identify/address community concerns.

Several Home Church members have been asking if our congregation could join this initiative. To explore this opportunity, we have formed a new group called the Home Church Community Engagement Team. Our team wants to get to know congregation members better and learn about your hopes for our church and our community.

We’re setting up one-on-one conversations for this purpose.

Would you like to participate in one of these conversations? If so, contact the Church Office and volunteer to join a conversation! Expect to hear from an Engagement team member. And look for more information coming over the next few weeks.

Home Church, the Community Engagement Team, and opportunities to learn more:

  • Home Church is exploring the possibility of joining a new working group, the Forsyth Sponsoring Committee.
  • A new team at Home Church, the Community Engagement Team, is leading the exploration process through a “Lunch and Learn” meeting on Sunday, February 19 at noon, and through one-on-one conversations with Home Church members.
  • Team members are Martha and Bob Veto, Ginny Tobiasson, Cathryn and Paul Morse, John Mickey, Bob Hunter, Andrew Heil, Debbie Drake, Karen Bell Chandler, and Dave and Betsy Bombick.
  • You’re invited to participate in the Lunch and Learn
    • Reservations for the lunch are encouraged:  contact the church office
  • You’re invited to participate in a one-on-one conversation
    • contact the church office, a team member, or an elder if you’re interested
  • The Engagement Team sees this as a great opportunity to
    • learn more about our Forsyth County neighbors, their hopes and needs
    • further put our vision statement into action:  “A church engaged, a community healed, a world transformed”

New working group---Forsyth Sponsoring Committee

  • The Sponsoring Committee is working to build a multi-faith, interracial, broad-based organization in Forsyth County
  • The new organization will strengthen local relationships and identify and address key issues that affect our community.
  • 22 faith groups (churches, synagogue, mosque) and agencies have joined the Sponsoring Committee
  • The Sponsoring Committee will determine a new name for the final organization, and establish practices and policies for the new group.

You are Invited !

Members of the Home Church Engagement Team invites you to have a conversation with a team member after church on March 12th, 19th, or 26th. Grab a cup of coffee in the Lovefeast Room, and take the opportunity to learn exactly what the Engagement Team has been exploring for Home Church. If you would rather meet during the week, please call a team member to set up a time for conversation.  We will have brochures available to pick up after church with a list of team members.
