Fulfilling Christ's call to love God, live in community, and serve our neighbor

Mission Trip to Kenya

You can support mission to Ray of Hope Orphanage and school

Where in the world are Beth Baldwin, Sarah Jennings and Mary Elen Kollman going? KENYA!! Kenya is on the east coast of Africa near Tanzania.

Several years ago, Michael Tesh from Christ Moravian Church felt called to go to Africa and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. His work evolved into a ministry for children and young adults who would otherwise have no home. With the help of the BWM, Michael received training and established the “Ray of Hope” ministry in Mombasa, Kenya.

The ministry provides food, shelter, school, and Bible education. In the most recent communication from Michael he says that the school has 76 students. Cecilia, Michael’s wife, is busy in leadership for the school. Having recently added 13 children from the nearby Maasai Community, another teacher is needed at the school.

Our sisters Beth, Sarah and Mary Elen are taking many supplies to use and to leave there. They will be working with the children and helping with Bible School. They will be sharing the love of fellow Moravians.

Michael says it is rainy season and they have planted corn and green “grams” and that, during weekends, the kids are working hard to keep out the weeds. Who knows what our sisters will be able to do?

The World Mission Ministry Team is grateful for the support of Women’s Fellowship, the Mission Society, and the Benevolence Fund for financial support. If you are interested in supporting our sisters’ work, please make checks payable to HMC and note that they are for the Kenya Trip.
