“Is That What You’re Wearing?”
With our leader, Ginny Tobiassen
Considering Jesus’ assurance that “the body is more than clothing” (Matthew 6:25), it’s surprising how much the Bible says about what we wear. From the tut-tuts of Timothy (no braided hair, ladies!) to the exhortations of Ephesians (put on the armor of God!), the scriptures offer different messages about how we “wear” our faith.
Learn more about these scriptural messages. Share your memories of what clothing you’ve worn, and why. Honor women in your life who have truly modeled “the clothes of Christ.” Strut your stuff in an off-the-wall fashion show! Join your Home Church sisters for a weekend of Bible study, small-group discussion, fellowship, prayer, and just plain fun.
Also, there will be lots of time for laughter, fellowship, play, and anything else that you may want to do on or around the mountain.
- The retreat begins with dinner on Friday night and concludes with worship on Sunday morning. This will give participants plenty of time to return to Home Church in time to attend the congregational visioning luncheon to be held at 12:15 following morning worship.
- Cost per person: $160 (double), $250 (single) includes room, 5 meals and retreat leadership. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required at registration. Scholarship aid is available.

The Women’s Fellowship promotes Christian fellowship among women of the Home Church congregation. The Fellowship invites all women of the congregation and their friends to be members, and divides into circles that unite in prayer, fellowship, mission and Bible study. The Women’s Fellowship also aids in the spiritual, social and financial work of the church. It supports families at times of bereavement with food and other hospitality.
The group’s major annual undertaking is the Candle Tea held early in the Advent season – guided tours of the historic Single Brothers’ House with music, candle-making, coffee and Moravian sugar cake, a visit to the putz – a hand-crafted miniature model of Old Salem and a Nativity scene – and the Christmas story. Proceeds of the event go to benevolent causes.
The Women’s Fellowship cookbook, With Heart and Hand (fifth edition), is available for purchase through the church office. The cost is $25, or $30 if mailed. A great gift as well as an invaluable resource, the cookbook features a beautiful watercolor cover and a wealth of wonderful recipes.
