Please read this letter from Chaz Snider, chair of the Salem Congregation Board of Elders, regarding the Easter Sunrise Service. It will surprise no one and sadden everyone--but we are comforted by our faith. We know that wherever we are, however we proclaim it, "The Lord is risen!"
From this moment, let us all commit to finding new ways to make the Easter message known this year. As the Apostle Paul reminds us when he says we are "always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies." Each of us is a proclamation! How will you be heard? How will you make the life of Jesus visible in the Easter dawn?
Don't miss the part of the letter where Chaz invites us to post photographs of the sunrise. I'm wondering, too, if band members might post videos of themselves playing on their porches in the dawn (although you might want to speak to your neighbors first!). Let's find a way to make this the Easter we will talk about, and cherish, for many years to come. Peace and joy be with you.
