Youth News

We’re having a bake sale! We’ll be baking the morning of April 20 and selling the goodies after service on the 21st! Let me know if you’re going to bake so we can plan enough recipes! We need all hands on deck!

Join us after service for our Youth Power Hour! We’ll be discussing 8 questions about God that you might be scared to ask like, “Does the Bible contradict itself,” and “Does God discriminate against women?” If that sounds interesting to you, head up to the third floor after worship for food, fellowship, and conversation! Power Hour is every Sunday from 11:15 to 12!

Scripture Meditation

“Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.” – Luke 9:35-36

Don’t you wish you had a voice coming from the clouds telling you who to trust? Every day we are bombarded with voices that want us to listen. There are infinite voices telling you how to look, what to buy, who to support, who to look down on, what you need in order to be cool. The world is busy and loud. You’ve got many voices competing for your attention, and it’s not always easy to know the right ones to listen to.

It’s not often nowadays that God speaks from the clouds and guides us on the right path. The good news is that God already told us who we should listen to. Jesus is the voice that we must trust over all of the noise. There are good people and good voices to listen to, but it can get a little confusing. When it’s overwhelming, turn to the words of Jesus. It feels like an obvious answer, but just open your Bible and read. It’s easy to scroll on our phones and consume Tik Toks and advertisements and read what other people have to say about Jesus. It’s harder to open the Bible and start reading.

Try it this week. It’s hard to find the time. I’m guilty of choosing other things. Just find one story where Jesus speaks and listen to his voice over all the rest. That’s my challenge for you this week. The hardest part is starting, but friends, you can do hard things. Let our hearts be open to what Jesus had to say to us this week and let all the other voices get a little quieter.
