Children’s Ministry Coordinator

Home Moravian Church seeks a part-time Children’s Ministry Coordinator.  The Children’s Ministry Coordinator oversees all children’s ministries for children aged 3 to 10 (5th grade)This ministry position includes oversight of volunteers serving in our children’s areas with the sole purpose of leading all children to a foundational authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. Ministry areas include: 

• Children’s Sunday School
• Mid-week Children’s Programming
• Godly Play (a Montessori-based curriculum used in Children’s Church)
• Special / seasonal events that promote the mission and vision of Home Moravian Church and its Children’s Ministry

 

In coordination with the HMC children’s ministry team and other volunteers from the congregation, the Children’s Ministry Coordinator will: 

• recruit and train volunteers to lead effective children’s ministry work
• schedule volunteers for all children’s ministry programs and events
• in conjunction with the Director of Christian Education (DCE)select and implement all curriculum for the children’s ministry programs
• plan programming to meet goals for engagement of children and their parents
• connect with children in a way that helps them to forge strong bonds with each other, with those working with them, and with God
• work in conjunction with the DCE to create a Children’s Ministry annual budget
• welcome new families with children at Home Moravian Church 
• build relationships with the larger church community, including other Moravian churches
• attend to other tasks related to the children’s ministry

 

Time commitment: 20 hours a week on average, with half of the time typically spent in planning and working with the Children’s Ministry Team and volunteers, and the other half spent in direct engagement opportunities with children

Preferred Qualifications: 

• BA (any field)
• Minimum 23 years of age 
• experience leading and organizing children in a ministry setting. 
• exemplary Christian model through teaching, discipling, and generosity
• theology and practice consistent with Moravian approach to faith

 

Classification:  Part-time position approximately 20 hours per week 

Salary: Compensation is $25/hour.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Administrative Assistant

Home Moravian Church 

Job Summary

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to Home Church’s program staff (pastor, associate pastor, director of Christian formation, and music director) and is the primary staff person interacting with members and the public when they contact the church office.  This position reports to the pastor, who is head of staff.

Illustrative examples of duties:

  • Performs clerical work for program staff
  • Maintains membership records (both paper and digital); keeps attendance records; insures that required church records are provided to the Moravian Archives. 
  • Coordinates church calendar for all activities and schedules use of church facilities.
  • Creates print materials including worship bulletins, monthly church newsletter, and congregational mailings. 
  • Prepares bulk mail and other special mailings. 
  • As needed, assists communications coordinator with congregational emails and with preparation of weekly electronic newsletter. 
  • Answers phone (with the assistance of front office volunteers) and keeps outgoing messages and phone tree up to date
  • Purchases supplies as needed for office and for some worship services

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with others--staff, volunteers and visitors--in an office setting, and to manage basic office functions
  • Experience in handling funds in a professional, confidential, and accurate manner.
  • Ability to work effectively in a Windows-based computer environment, including word processing and basic database management
  • Ability to give attention to countless small (but important) details
  • A spirit of cooperativeness; the flexibility to function in a wide variety of situations and with a sincere respect for all persons; and a sense of humor
  • Ability to work selflessly with other staff members to accomplish tasks; to value cooperation to achieve a goal; and to receive direction willingly.  
  • It is imperative that this person be able to maintain confidentiality.

  • The position requires availability to work regular hours Monday through Friday as determined upon hiring.

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits.  Salary range: 38,000-42,000, depending on experience.
