More Information:

Location:  Candle Tea is held in the Single Brothers House in Old Salem at 600 South Main Street within the National Historic Landmark District of Salem.  

Cost:  The cost of regular Tea is $8 for adults and $2 for children.  School Tea is $2/student and Scout Tea is $2/person, which includes a patch for each scout. Candle Tea is completely staffed by volunteers.  All proceeds go to outreach ministries locally and globally.  Your visit helps people in need around the world. Old Salem Museums & Gardens tickets do not apply.

Payment Options at the Door:  Cash or checks are accepted.  We are unable to accept credit cards. 

Reservations:  A limited number of prepaid (nonrefundable) reservations at $10.00 per person are available for Thursdays, December 2nd and 9th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Fridays – Dec. 3rd and Dec. 10th. Beginning in October, you may make reservations by using the “Reservations” tab on the website. PayPal and credit cards are accepted.

School Tea Reservations UPDATE:  Reservations will open by Thursday, August 19, 2021. When reservations open, the School Groups link will appear on this page. 

  • Admission:  $2 per person, child or adult.  For more information call Ashley Sanders 336.749.9463.
  • Each guest receives a six-inch trimmed candle and a Moravian sugar cookie. We try to accommodate children with special dietary needs by providing gluten-free cookies. A need for this should be indicated by teachers on the reservation form. 
  • Groups of a maximum of 30 people (counting both students and adults) will be admitted every 15 minutes. Tour lasts about 35-40 minutes. 
  • Bus parking is in the parking lot of the Salem College Fine Arts Center. Parking is also available in the Old Salem Visitor Center parking lot. Instructions for parking, unloading, and loading, and maps are available on the homemoravian.org web site. 
  • Public, private and home-school groups are welcome! 

Scout Tea Reservations: Reservations will open September 11, 2021. To make reservations, go to homemoravian.org/candletea and select Scout Groups and follow in instructions to Scout reservations. For more information, call Katherine Rhew, 336.760.1598.

Special Candle Tea Activities 

I Spy Candle TeaA game for children of all ages. Come to Old Salem and find the historic Moravian buildings and features around the Square. After the pandemic is over, attend Candle Tea and experience the sights, sounds and scents of a traditional Moravian Christmas.
