She finished her resident study at Moravian Theological Seminary in May 2012 and was ordained at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church on Jan. 20, 2013, with Bishop Sam Gray officiating. She is the author of two books and has taught a course on Moravian history at Salem College.

Ginny is the daughter of the late Rev. Fred Hege, who served Home, Advent and Fries Memorial Moravian churches and as assistant director of christian education for the Southern Province. She and her husband, Bill, have three grown sons and four grandchildren. Bill is an accomplished cabinet maker, restoration carpenter, and luthier (guitars and mandolins).
