Fulfilling Christ's call to love God, live in community, and serve our neighbor

Advent & Christmas 2021

New services, activities this year

Blue Christmas Gathering, Wednesday Dec. 15, 5:30 p.m., Saal

On Wednesday Dec.15 at 5:30 p.m., you are invited to gather in the Saal for a "Blue Christmas" gathering, a quiet service featuring music, listening, and poetry. The holiday season can be difficult for anyone suffering loss, hurt, or isolation, and this gathering will provide an opportunity to acknowledge our griefs simply by being together, whether by naming or with silence.

Please feel welcome to share this invitation with someone you know. Contact the church for more information or send an email to Terry Ann Overton, chair of the Congregational Care Ministry Team.

And for Christmas EveChristmas star-280.jpg

The Home Church tradition of ministry to the wider community is alive and well! While we will not offer worship in the sanctuary on Christmas Eve, plans are in progress for exciting ways to be in service to our neighbors that day:

  • Christmas Eve Lovefeast video streaming. Times TBA
  • A return of “Buns on the Run” in the porte-cochere behind the church. Friends and neighbors can pick up lovefeast bags to take home and enjoy while worshipping online on Christmas Eve
  • Christmas band rounds, caroling, and bun-and-candle distribution in nearby neighborhoods
  • Church interpretation—the sanctuary will be open for this ministry from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Christmas Eve
  • A worship service in God’s Acre as twilight descends on Christmas Eve!

Members should stay tuned for details as they develop – and get ready to volunteer on this day of mission to our neighbors!

Volunteer sign-ups will open soon!
