(Please read the introductory section about Candle Tea.)
Scout tours, for both boys and girls, are an abbreviated version of the public Candle Tea. The special “Scout Tea” includes the candle-making demonstration and viewing the putz. Each guest – both scouts and accompanying adults – receives a lovefeast candle and is served a Moravian cookie in the kitchen of the historic Single Brothers' House.
In the Single Brothers' House, built more than 250 years ago, scouts learn about the life of the early settlers of Salem, the earliest public water system in the United States, and how the young people in Salem were educated and the older boys learned a trade.
Scout tours are by reservation only. A maximum of 35 persons are allowed entry at one time by fire code.
Thank you for your interest in Candle Tea!
Admission for each scout and accompanying adult is $2. Each scout will receive a Candle Tea patch. After each reservation, you will be emailed PayPal receipt and, within a few days, a Candle Tea paid invoice with additional information.
Additional donation: This year as we celebrate our 90th Anniversary, you may also add an optional donation to your admission charge, to help us support good causes locally and globally.
Please note: Visiting Candle Tea and touring Old Salem buildings are two separate activities and are handled by two different groups. To schedule a separate tour of Old Salem on the same day you visit Candle Tea, please contact the Tour Coordinators at Old Salem by calling 800-441-5305 (no email).
Inclement weather policy: If the Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools or Old Salem close for the day or close early due to bad weather, the Candle Tea will also close. Check news media or call 336-749-9463 for a message.
