Since 2016, Home Moravian Church has partnered with the Moravians in Albania...

● To support the three prongs of the Bathore Project:

  • Economic Support (providing food and basic education)
  • Emancipation Project (helping victims of domestic violence)
  • Evangelization Project (teaching the gospel)

● To supplement food supplies of 46 families from Bathore in the Family-to-Family initiative. The cost to feed a family is listed below:

The food package includes flour, sugar, pasta, rice, beans, cooking oil, salt, soap, and detergent. Albanian Moravians purchase and distribute the food to each family. All contributions go directly to feed families in need. The total cost to feed 46 families for one month is approximately $2,000.

● To contribute to Dena Grillo Fortuzi’s educational fund at Moravian Theological Seminary. Her goal is to become the first ordained Moravian Minister to Albania.

Since 2016, 18-23 women have attended weekly classes in basic education, cooking and sewing, health, first aid, family relationships, and domestic violence. Of the 18 women who were illiterate initially, all can now read and write on the third- to fourth-grade level. They are proud that they are now able to help their children with their homework. Since attending classes and church meetings many women have shared that their lives have been changed, and they are very grateful for the Moravian Church.

Vjollca Mazi.jpgIn the words of Vjollca Mazi (right), a founder of these projects, “Since its start, we have witnessed changes in the lives of many people in Bathore. While the project was being implemented, we could hear God’s voice telling us that we were blessed and that He would never abandon us in this. He has used our American sisters and brothers to help the poor, and us all together to bring forward His kingdom.”

Dena Grillo Fortuzi continues her online studies to become an ordained minister to Albania. The seminary, the Unity Women’s Desk, and Home Church have committed to help Dena with her educational expenses.
